Are you ready to get the ball rolling?
The weird thing about being a therapist is that the marker of success is when you work yourself out of a job.
I offer a few different financial options for clients. They can either “pay out of pocket” and submit superbills to their insurance for reimbursement if they choose, they can utilize my partnership with Mentaya to submit those superbills and negotiate reimbursements on their behalf, or they can use their insurance if I am in-network with their plan.
You’ll see a breakdown of all of those options below, because going to therapy is hard enough without adding in a bunch of bullsh*t healthcare hoops to jump through on top of it, right?
Cash Pay or Pay Out of Pocket Options
Cash pay or paying out of pocket means you pay me directly for your therapy services. You can choose to negotiate reimbursement with your insurance if you choose, or utilize Mentaya for that service (scroll down for deets on that).
Is Cash Pay a Good Option for Me?
Here is when a cash pay option might be a good fit for you:
You really want to work with a therapist, but they don’t take your insurance
You want to avoid getting a formal diagnosis, or giving your insurance access to your therapy records
You don’t want to deal with the hassle of insurance claims
Ok, cool…but how much is it?
See our “Session Fees” breakdown below. Keep in mind our practice offers a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients, if you want to go the cash pay route, but the cost is a bit too steep.
Session Fees
-
Therapy for Kids $160
limited sliding scale slots available
-
Therapy for Parents $160

-
Adoption Therapy $160

-
Family Therapy $190

As an out-of-network provider for some insurances, we have partnered with Mentaya to help clients save money on therapy. If you are interested in reimbursement for services, we can calculate that as part of your intake process.
Insurance Options
I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oscar Health, Oxford, Quest Behavioral Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield, (in Texas) which means if you have any of those plans, your sessions will likely be covered, hooray! Using insurance for therapy sessions is not a good fit for everyone, so you should make the choice that best fits your needs.
Is Insurance a Good Option for Me?
Maybe! Here is when using insurance might be a good fit for you:
Your only option for affording mental health care is using your insurance
You don’t mind having a formal diagnosis submitted to your provider, and their ability to access your therapy records
You are ok with going through whatever process is required for insurance claims
You have met or have a lower deductible on your plan. If not, your first sessions may be more expensive until the deductible is met and your insurance begins to cover sessions.
You are aware that insurance may limit the number of sessions you can have as a client that they will cover the costs for
Ok, how does the insurance option work?
I use a nifty company called Headway for all of my clients who choose to utilize their in-network insurance benefits. Basically you input your info into a link I send you when we get started, and Headway will verify your coverage before your first session. Then they will submit any claims to insurance for your sessions. You pay your regular co-pay through their system. Easy peasy right? Or about as easy as it gets when it comes to the maze of insurance.
